Tayberries

Taste: Tayberries are delicate and delicious, with a tendency to tear and bruise even when plucked by hand. They’re very closely related to the Loganberry. While they look like a raspberry, they are a bit more tart and very flavorful.

Nutritional Info:

  • Rich in vitamin C, folate, and fiber

  • Contain bioflavonoids, which is an important antioxidant that help keep your eyes and body healthy

When to Look for Tayberries:  Don’t blink or you might miss Tayberry season. The berries ripen all at once over a few short weeks in late July and early August.

Best Uses for Tayberries: Tayberries are very similar to Loganberries, but larger, sweeter, and generally more flavorful. Eat them fresh over cereal or ice cream, or cook them into a soft supple Tayberry pie. Recently, Tayberries have been used to flavor liqueurs or and delicious berry-flavored Tayberry wine.

How to Store Tayberries: Because tayberries are so delicate, it's best not to transfer them to another container. Don't wash them unless you're ready to eat them. They keep in the fridge for no longer than a week.
